Metal laser cutting machine main process and application

Metal laser cutting machine is an invisible beam instead of the traditional mechanical knife, the role of the development of the sheet metal industry is becoming increasingly prominent, will gradually improve or replace the traditional metal cutting process equipment, its most notable features are high precision, fast cutting, not limited to the cutting pattern limitations, automatic nesting to save materials, smooth cuts, low processing costs and so on. So, what are the main processes and applications of metal laser cutting machine? Below, we will introduce what are the common processes and applications of laser cutting machine.
Metal laser cutting machine main process
Vaporisation cutting
During laser vaporization cutting, the surface temperature of the material rises to the boiling point temperature so quickly that melting due to heat conduction is avoided, so that part of the material vaporizes into steam and disappears, and part of the material is blown away as an ejecta from the bottom of the kerf by an auxiliary gas stream. This process is practically used only in a very small area of use for iron-based alloys.
Melt Cutting
In laser melt cutting, the workpiece is partially melted and the molten material is ejected by means of a gas stream. Since the transfer of the material only takes place in its liquid state, this process is called laser melting cutting. Laser melting cutting gives oxidation-free cuts in ferrous materials and titanium.
Oxidation Melt Cutting (Laser Flame Cutting)
Melt cutting generally uses an inert gas, but if it is replaced by oxygen or other reactive gases, the material is ignited by the laser beam, which reacts violently with the oxygen to produce another heat source that heats up the material even further, which is known as oxidative melting cutting.
As a result of this effect, the cutting rate obtainable by this method is higher than that of melt cutting for structural steel of the same thickness. On the other hand, this method may result in a poorer quality of cut compared to melt cutting.
Controlled Fracture Cutting
For brittle materials that are susceptible to thermal damage, a high-speed, controlled cut with laser beam heating is called controlled fracture cutting. This cutting process allows the laser beam to direct the fracture in any desired direction as long as a balanced heating gradient is maintained.
In summary, the laser cutting machine processing process is mainly the above.
