Fiber laser cutting machine is not a panacea

Many new clients always ask us that fiber laser cutting machine can cut anything? The answer is No! Fiber laser cutting machine is not a panacea.

Although fiber laser cutting machine has many excellent features, but it is not indestructible.  There are still many materials it can not cut.

Firstly,we need to make it clear that fiber laser cutting machine belongs to the category of metal cutting machine. So it can only cut metal materials. It can’t cut non-metallic materials , such as stone, glass and other materials.

The reason is that the wavelength range of fiber laser cutting machine is not in the absorption range of this type of material.Or is not suitable for absorption. So it can not reach the ideal category.

Secondly,the optical fiber laser cutting machine can not cut the density plate, optical fiber laser cutting machine belongs to the hot processing, cutting density plate will cause combustion, so that the cutting edge will burn, can not meet the requirements of cutting.This kind of material basically is the raw material of fiber board, woodiness fiber, plant fiber, still have the material such as the artificial board that a few are to apply urea formaldehyde resin, adhesive to make.These types of materials belong to the category of density plate, which cannot be processed by optical fiber laser cutting machine at present.

Thirdly,there are some highly reflective materials, such as copper and other metal materials. Although these materials can be cut with fiber laser cutting machine.But since the wavelength of these materials to the laser is not within the material’s ideal absorption range. Some of the reflected energy will burn out the protective lens. So we recommend you use nLIGHT laser.
