Especially in extremely cold climates, the optical part of the fiber laser can form hard-to-repair damage. The basic principle and method of antifreeze: liquid has “freezing point”. When the liquid temperature is lower than this “freezing point” temperature. It will solidify to form a solid, and the volume of deionized water or pure water will become larger during the process of solidification. Which will “crack up” “The piping and sealing connections of the water cooling system will damage.
In order to avoid the damage of the fiber laser. The output head and the water cooler caused by the solidification of the cooling liquid, there are three solutions:

Option 1: Do not turn off the water cooler at night

In the case that there is absolutely no power outage in the local area, the water cooler will not turn off at night, and at the same time, energy is saving. The temperature of the low temperature and normal temperature water should be 5 ~ 10 ° C to ensure that the coolant is in a circulating state and the temperature is not lower than the freezing point.

Option 2: Drain the cooling liquid

After the daily use, the laser, the laser output head, and the cooling liquid in the water cooler  are empty. The specific cooling water evacuation method and piping design scheme refer to the following pictures:

 

 

Close the red marked valve as shown in the figure, open the yellow indicating valve, and pass a clean compressed air or nitrogen of not more than 0.4Mpa (within 4kg) to the A point until the water at the B point is not blown out. Finally, open the drain of the water cooler to drain the remaining water in the last tank.
It should be noted that all cooling water in the fiber laser, laser output head, processing head and water cooler must be cleaned to effectively protect the entire water-cooled pipeline and related components!

Option 3: Use antifreeze as coolant

Antifreeze must be used when the environment is often blacked out and there are no conditions for daily coolant venting. The base liquid of antifreeze is generally composed of alcohol and water. It requires high boiling point and flash point, large specific heat and conductivity, low viscosity at low temperature, not easy to foam, and does not corrode metal parts and rubber hoses. When selecting or blending antifreeze, the freezing point should be 5 °C lower than the lowest temperature in the environment.

1. Use special antifreeze for professional brands. Do not use ethanol instead.

2, if the professional brand is not convenient to buy, you can also buy a large bottle of car antifreeze that does not need to add water in a nearby regular gas station or regular supply store, directly used in the fiber laser water cooling system.

Any antifreeze cannot completely replace deionized water and cannot use for a long time throughout the year. After the winter, the pipeline must be cleaned with deionized water or purified water, and deionized water or purified water should be used as a coolant.
